At CleanStart: Total Body Cleansing, we get a lot of questions about our services. Most of these questions are super valid and easy to answer. We want to take the time to answer a few of them for you before you book your appointment. Read through the list. If we have not put you as ease, feel free to call or email one of our friendly staff.
Q: What is a Colon Hydrotherapy Session?
A: A colonic is a procedure that cleans out your colon or large intestine (large bowel). At Clean Start: Total Body Cleansing, we use an open system colonic machine called the Angel of Water. It is a complete machine that you are slightly reclined at a relaxing 45-degree angle. A small disposable nozzle is attached on the inside of the seat and is inserted into the rectum. Just to give you an idea of the size of the nozzle, take a look at your smallest figure (pinky). That’s about the diameter of the nozzle. This process is the most effective and modern way to cleanse the colon. Our licensed therapist will do the insertion for you; however, once familiar with the process the client (you) does have the opportunity to do the insertion yourself. Once the nozzle is inserted, the gravity flow of water is started. Typically we use up to 8 gallons of filtered, sterilized and PH balanced water throughout the 45min session. When the water starts to flow in you, you feel your body start to “go to the bathroom” or you will feel stimulated enough to move your bowels. You do just that. The water and waste product (Fecal matter) will come right out. For those of you that are more visual, you can see everything coming out from a slanted mirror facing the lighted irrigation tunnel. For those of you that don’t care to see, we can simple cover the mirror and allow the process just to take place. A couple of tips:
- The longer you can hold the water, the deeper the irrigation will go into the colon.
- Just relax. The tighter you hold your body, the less affective the process will be.
- A question of modesty? You will be cover with a sterile disposable cloth at all times.
Q: How long does it take?
A: The actual colon irrigation process is typically about 35-45 minutes; however, we set aside an hour for each client as some may take more time.
Q: Will it hurt?
A: It does not hurt, but you may feel a bloating sensation or cramps. This is due to the bowels being stimulated from the water in your colon. Keep in mind each client and treatment is different.
Q: How often should I get a Colonic?
A: If this is your first Colonic, we recommend doing 1 Colonic per week for 3 weeks combined with a 2 week Herbal Detox. Colonics are best done before, half way through and after the Herbal Detox. After, you can do Colon Hydrotherapy once a month, every 3 months or every 6 months depending on your needs, goals or diet and lifestyle (which are big factors for your total body health and the colon.)
Q: How should I prepare for my appointment?
A: The day before the Colonic it is best to eat light meals like soups, salads, fruits, vegetables, avoiding any heavy meats (Beef, Pork, and Breaded Chicken) breads, alcohol and coffee. The day of the Colonic, stop eating two hours before your appointment.
Q: What should I do after the appointment?
A: After the Colonic, eating soft foods such as pureed soup is recommended immediately following the session and cooked foods for the day. If this is your first session, try to keep your schedule light after the session in case you want to go home and sleep.
Q: Will I lose weight?
A: On average, the Colon or Lower Bowel is about 5 feet long. There have been reported cases of Colons holding up to 12 lbs. of fecal matter; however, this would be the case with a severely impacted (constipated) colon. We hope this is not the case with you, but on a regular basis we see weight loss between 3 to 4 maybe 5 lbs.
Q: Can I do anything after (yoga, go to an event or travel)?
A: The day of your appointment it is best to have a free schedule. This will allow you to go home and rest if you feel the desire to do so. You should be fine to resume normal activities the following day.
Q: Will I be running to the bathroom after?
A: Typically everything is flushed out during the Colonic, but we do recommend you sit on the commode for a few minutes after just incase there is still water in the colon.
Q: Do I need to come in earlier than my appointment?
A: If this is your first time you will have paperwork. Please arrive 10-15min before your appointment.
Q: How do I make an appointment?
A: To schedule your services, we take your name, phone number, email and a credit card to hold the appointment time.
Q: Why do you need a Credit Card on file?
A: We have a 24-hour cancelation policy. We book up so fast that we must hold the available appointment for clients that are serious about a lifestyle change or a CleanStart. The receptionists like to call it a “polite policy.” Another word, a “no show, no call” will be charged half of the session cost, so that we can keep top-notch therapist in our stores. Rescheduling is usually not a problem. Just give us a call and we will gladly work with you.
Q: Can I book a Foot Detox or other services the same day?
A: Yes! In fact we make that it is super easy and cost effective for you. We have many packages with prices that can save you up to 20% or more.
Q: What is the price of the Colonic?
A: The Colon-Hydrotherapy is $95 per session. New clients are eligible for 10% off for their first service. We also have packages for multiple colon hydrotherapy sessions. Take a look at our service menu for all your saving options.
Q: I read online that colonics aren’t good for you?
A: Unfortunately not everything on the Internet is true. Colon hydrotherapy has been around since the beginning of time. We just recommend taking probiotics after to replace the good bacteria that may have been flushed out. We offer these in store. Trust us the benefits are much greater then any harm that could ever be done.
